“Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time.”
Steven Wright
As someone living or working at the Hillside Gardens, you are ideally situated for walking to a range of facilities in and around Pinhoe and for connecting with nearby public transport services.
Walking, even if it is only a gentle amble over a short distance each day, can help you lose weight and has been shown to improve your fitness, health and mental well-being.

Current NHS guidelines suggest that children under five should do three hours of physical activity per day, while adults are recommended to do 150 minutes per week. Walking is a great way of introducing more physical activity into your usual routine.
You do not need any special equipment to start walking to the shops or the local school - just a comfortable pair of shoes and a reasonable sense of direction. This should be helped by the maps inside your sustainable travel guide and on this website.
The walking times to key local destinations are provided on the map to the right, click on an icon to see the approximate walking times, in minutes and seconds, to local destinations. This is based on modest walking pace of around three miles per hour and the times are measured from the centre of the Hillside Gardens development.
